1. Search for the Recon Team
Three years ago, the last Brotherhood recon team sent to the Commonwealth went missing. Captain Kells ordered me to search for their remains.
1.1. Follow the radio distress signal
Tune your radio to Distress Signal. It will lead you to the ruins south of Med-Tek Research. Take the Battlefield Holotape from Knight Varham's body.
In a ruin near Malden, I found the remains of a team of Brotherhood soldiers that were ambushed and nearly wiped out. If I follow their trail, I may be able to learn what happened to them.

2. Investigate the National Guard Training Yard
2.1. Follow the radio distress signal
You will find Knight Astlin's body inside one of the rooms of National Guard Recruitment Office.
In the National Guard Training Yard, I found the remains of a soldier who made her last stand against a horde of feral ghouls.
Search her body and take Knight Astlin's Holotape.

3. Investigate the Satellite Array
3.1. Follow the radio distress signal
Tune your Pip-Boy radio to another Distress Signal frequency and locate Scribe Faris' body.
At the Revere Satellite Array, I found the remains of a soldier. If I search the area, I may be able to learn what happened to the rest of his squad.
3.1.1. Listen to Scribe Faris' Holotape
4. Investigate the Bunker
It is the Recon Bunker Theta and now you know the access code required to open it.
5. Speak to Paladin Brandis
You can convince him to come back to the Brotherhood of Steel, you can let him stay in the bunker or you can kill him.
6. Report to Captain Kells
No matter what you did with Paladin Brandis, Captain Kells will give you Steadfast BOS Combat Armor Chest Piece.
7. Quest completed
Three years ago, the last Brotherhood recon team sent to the Commonwealth went missing. I followed a trail of clues to a remote bunker, where I met Paladin Brandis, the mission's only survivor.
Next / new quest is Duty or Dishonor (Brotherhood of Steel).
