Suggested level: 49

This quest will be triggered or can be aquired when you complete Beyond Hill and Dale..., What Lies Unseen quests.

Stages of "Tesham Mutna" quest

1. Version A - Facing Dettlaff after the meeting with Unseen Elder.

This version will be active if you came here after completing What Lies Unseen quest.

1.1. Help Regis fight Dettlaff.

Geralt had done what was required. He could now go to the infamous Tesham Mutna, where he would once again face Dettlaff.

1.1.1. [Optional] Prepare for the fight.

Before you enter the arena and join the fight, you can save game or open your inventory and use oils, setup potions, etc.

1.2. Defeat Dettlaff.

The fight consists of three phases.

Phase 3.

Defeat Dettlaff.

1.3. Quest completed.

Though higher vampires seem to differ entirely from us, upon closer examination their passions, emotions, prove human to the extreme. Thus, Geralt and Regis quite rightly did not expect the Beast of Beauclair to be pleased as they headed towards Tesham Mutna to meet him. When, unaccompanied by Syanna, they finally faced Dettlaff, the vampire flew into a rage. He lunged at Regis and Geralt, intent on tearing them to shreds. Yet the duel ended with his defeat and, at the last, his demise.

At the end you will receive a new quest - Pomp and Strange Circumstance.

2. Version B - Facing Dettlaff after visiting the Land of a Thousand Fables (Geralt obtained the magic ribbon for Syanna).

This version will be active if you came here after completing Beyond Hill and Dale... quest and Geralt had won or bought the Magic ribbon from the girl who sells flint.

At the beginning Dettlaff will try to kill Syanna, but magic ribbon will save her by teleporting her back to the Land of a Thousand Fables.

The next stages of this version will be the same as in version A.

2.1. Quest completed.

Higher vampires bear an uncanny resemblance to humans. Yet the similarities are only skin deep. We mere mortals have a dastardly time trying to understand their emotional makeup and morals. So Geralt could never have foreseen what happened - that Dettlaff would try to take Syanna's life.

Luckily, Syanna had her protective amulet. Crafted long before by Artorius Vigo, it did exactly what it was created to do. At the crucial moment, the duchess' sister disappeared, transported to a spot both safe and secure. Dettlaff flew into a rage. He lunged at Regis and Geralt, intent on tearing them to shreds. Yet the duel ended with his defeat and, at the last, his demise.

3. Version C - Facing Dettlaff after visiting the Land of a Thousand Fables (Geralt didn't obtain the magic ribbon for Syanna).

This version will be active if you came here after completing Beyond Hill and Dale... quest and Geralt didn't obtain the Magic ribbon from the girl who sells flint.

At the beginning Dettlaff will kill Syanna. You can fight him or let him go.

Version C - Facing Dettlaff after visiting the Land of a Thousand Fables (Geralt didn't obtain the magic ribbon for Syanna).

If you decided to punish him then the next stages of this version will be the same as in version A, except for the next quest.

If you let him go, quest will be over.

In both cases, at the end you will be sentenced to prison and will receive a new quest - Burlap is the New Stripe.

3.1. Quest completed.

He could, however, avenge her. He did so swiftly, though not without difficulty and with Regis' help.

With the deed done, Geralt nonetheless let Dettlaff go. There was no question he was guilty, but it was equally clear he had been both predator and victim in the grand scheme of things. For his part Dettlaff vowed to avoid humans forever more. In his heart of hearts, the witcher knew the vampire would keep his word.
